“Until Dead” is a feature length psychological thriller in the Folk Horror genre.
Set in a prison in the Texas countryside and a Xanadu-style floral estate, we are confronted with a good vs evil redemption story, where a supernatural justice decides who lives and who dies as the fate of an innocent, young woman dangles in the balance of the Texas Capital Punishment System.
The disbelief of earth-shattering miracles witnessed by the guards in “The Green Mile” . . . the gift of seeing and conversing with dead people in “The Sixth Sense” . . . the supernatural powers passed down through centuries of female lineage in “Wonder Woman” . . . the ghost that reveals her murderer in “The Lovely Bones” . . . the embattled and obtuse warden in “Shawshank Redemption” . . . a family’s greed-driven motifs in “Succession” . . . the unwavering, compassionate love in “Dead Man Walking.”
